Stress can be physical, emotional, psychological, environmental, infectious, or a combination of these. Stress can be real (as in a physical illness) or perceived (as in a negative perception of an event in your life). To your body it's all stress.
While our bodies were designed to deal with stress, they do have limits and adrenal fatigue can occur when many different stresses build up faster than our bodies or coping skills can deal with them.
Examples of stress that can lead to adrenal fatigue:
Chronic Illness or Infection
Job Stress - Loss of a job or low-level ongoing job stress
Anger and Unforgiveness
Exposure to Toxins
Long Term Low Grade Stress (i.e. hating your job, constant worry about finances, etc.)
Excessive Sugar and Caffeine
Unhappy or Abusive Relationships
Lack of Sleep
Lack of Fun/Down Time
Sudden Stress Like Death of A Loved One, Car Accident, etc.
Extreme Exercise
Fear/Guilt
Hypoglycemia
While everyone is different and the causes of adrenal fatigue differ from person to person, you are the best judge of how much stress is in your life.
