Some of them did help. Some worked wonders and some of them didn't seem to do much. Everyone's body is different so something may work for you that didn't work for someone else. The important thing is to work hand in hand with your health care provider and keep trying different things until you find what works best for you.
In the interests of saving you time, I have listed several supplements below that helped me and/or other people with adrenal fatigue:
Royal Jelly - Royal jelly is a natural food made by bees. It is only fed to worker bees for a few days during their development but it is fed to the queen bee for her lifetime. And you can see the difference: the queen matures 5 days earlier than worker bees and her weight is double that of the working bee.
A worker bee lives around 35-40 days whereas the queen, fed royal jelly only, lives 5-6 years and can lay up to three thousand eggs a day during season. Talk about power.
Royal Jelly is a rich natural source of B-vitamins (which get depleted during stressful times). It also contains other minerals, enzymes, hormones, amino acids, antibacterial and antibiotic components, and vitamins A, C, D and E.
B-Vitamins - B Vitamins, particularly B12 and B6 are the 'stress' fighters. When we are under stress nutritionists say we need more B-vitamins as they get used up quite quickly. In particular I found that sublingual B12 supplements really gave me an energy boost and helped with brain fog.
Relora - Relora is a blend of 2 plant extracts magnolia officinalis and phellodenron amurense. In human studies Relora was shown to be a safe, effective, rapid-acting, non-sedating supplement, which promoted relaxation, calm and a feeling of well-being. Relora has also been demonstrated to lower Cortisol levels, which often are responsible for weight gain - especially around the middle.
Vitamin C - Vitamin C helps in the synthsisis of neurotransmitters like dopamine, norepinephrine and serotonin (the 'feel-good' neurotransmitter). Norepinephrine and serotonin have been directly linked to controlling feelings of anxiety and depression.
Vitamin C also helps detoxify the body, support the liver and acts as an antioxidant (we can have increased free radical production in times of heavy stress).
While you can take these vitamins/supplements separately there are a few adrenal supplements that combine many of these elements for you.
One of my favorites is Relagen, which is 100% natural, doctor recommended and can help you feel more relaxed as well as lose the weight associated with high levels of cortisol.
You can also get a free relaxation audio and a stress management program as free bonus gifts when you order.
When I was going through my nightmare of adrenal fatigue I tried everything - I mean EVERYTHING (that is, when I wasn't sleeping, napping or laying down).
I tried antioxidants, massage therapy, sea minerals, deep breathing, enzymes, herbs, herb teas - and any other supplement I could find at the health food store.
